CHURCHILL-1's story
Please contact Jenny Cope (giveadogahome@live.com) for more information about this pet.

CHURCHILL-1 was saved from a high kill shelter in Texas where dogs have just 3 dogs to be saved. CHURCHULL is neutered, core vaccines, rabies, de-wormed, heartworm tested negative, and micro-chipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 1 March 2017 and at the time of rescue at the end of September 2018 weighed around 9.40 pounds. He is listed as a Wire Haired Fox Terrie  mix. We have no way of knowing the exact breed, it is up to individuals to decide what breed they think is most likely.
CHURCHILL is an energetic, happy-go-lucky confident young boy, he is great with the other dogs of all ages and sizes, living amongst dogs from 6 pound chihuahua's up to 120 pound German Shepherd Dogs. He is friendly and happy to greet people and will bark when he notices something he is unsure of. He is a social boy and loves to explore and when ready to rest he curls up with his friends in front of the pellet stove keeping toasty warm. He is always happy to see people and runs in with the other dogs, tail wagging. He is young and active and will need a family that can give him a good active life, suitable for his size.  I have not seen him with children, but his demeanor and personality I have no doubt that he would be great with them and a lot of fun too. As with all rescue's he needs guidance and training and we recommend families go through at least the basics of training with him themselves so that boundaries, personalities and body language can be learned from each other.
He is young and still active and so a family that goes on adventures is preferred. He has never shown any kind of aggression at all, as mentioned she lives, eats and sleeps with lots of other dogs and enjoys their company and so a family with another dog would be great, but if not then it is important that he gets to play and interact with other dogs throughout his life.
We do NOT recommend dog parks for several months until a bond and trust and knowing to read his body language has been gained. We do NOT have cats or livestock at the rescue so cannot comment on how he will be near or around them. She does use the dog door in the kennels and so I would suspect that she is almost house-trained. He is most likely not going to know how to let you know that she wants to go out.
All dogs (except dogs saved from China) are available for adoption for an adoption fee of $550. Canadian adopters need to know that customs charge 15% taxes when entering into Canada. This fee is not negotiable and is used to cover the rescue costs of pulling, vetting, health certificate, transport from Texas to Maine, monthly preventatives, supplements, food and anything else that is needed.
If you feel that you have the heart and home to give this precious soul a wonderful life, please go to our website, under the APPLICATION tab, complete, then submit the APPLICATION. Our process takes around 2-4 days, and ensuring your references are aware that we will be calling, could speed up the process. Once you have been approved, we discuss any questions in regards to the dog you are wanting to adopt, then you complete and submit the contract, make payment and then we can work out the pick up / transport arrangements.
Please do NOT submit an application if you are not looking to take home a new best friend within the next few weeks.
